Many people (like myself) just don’t know where to start when it comes to flying RC Helicopters.
It’s even more challenging when (like myself) there is no one around to assist, bc. everyone else is into planes.

I’ve learned from the “school of hard knocks” (expensive), so here’s a way to save some money.

Tip 1: Buy a RTF (Ready To Fly) helicopter. Small “Blade” brands are good. They come with a transmitter (TX), receiver (RX), Charger/Balancer, LiPo battery, and helicopter.

Tip 2: Fly indoors to start. No wind makes learning much faster. (Keep it safe, no pets or kids close by.)

Tip 3: Collective pitch or Fixed pitch. It’s really your choice. Fixed pitch (Co-Axial) helicopters with no tail rotor are easier to learn on. Eg. Blade CX2. But I would by-pass that and purchase a Blade SR. (Good Park Flyer with some wind).

Tip 4: Once you’ve mastered that… go big for outside windy flying. (Bc. wind is always there.) TREX 600 or 700 with a flybar. (Stay away from flybarless… for now.)

Tip 5: Attach a hula hoop to the landing struts, with wooden dowels for cross-members, and water noodles every 90 degrees.

Tip 6: Purchase a programmable transmitter (TX). I use a Spektrum DX8. (Comes with a memory card.)

Tip 7: Purchase a quality power pack, and a quality charger/balancer.

Tip 8: Keep well away from your large helicopter. Fly in wide open spaces away from people, and take baby steps.

Tip 9: Don’t do anything that is outside of your comfort zone.

Tip 10: Try to relax and have fun!
